Motivating children to create rainbows is a common theme in our programs.
In both our nutrition and fitness programs, the Rainbow represents the importance of eating a variety of fruits and vegetables,
as each of the colored fruits and vegetables have important anti-oxidant properties that are critical in maintaining good
health. For maximum health benefits, variety is the key. We therefore incentivize children to eat a variety of
fruits and vegetables during the course of our 6-week program. At the beginning of a 6-week session, each child is given
an uncolored rainbow, along with 210 colored stickers (representing the minimum of 5 fruits and vegetables per day).
All children who complete their rainbows by the end of the 6 week session, are awarded a prize.
The Rainbow is also the underlying theme in our HEART curriculum. We encourage children to
"create their own rainbows" in their daily lives, by reaching out to others in need. This is what living with
HEART is all about. Only sun and rain together can make rainbows: when it's raining somewhere else, you can be
that quiet sun to someone; and when it's raining in your world, someone else can be that sun to you.
